Best to leave it up to the gunsmith. He will know what is best. Its not alot of money to have a thread re cut, so best to go with his recomendation to start with. I had to pay £80 for mine but that included re-proof which had to be done otherwise the smith refused to cut the thread. Some gunshops charge £120 for this work……£40for the machine shop and £80 for themselves, so try and find a machine shop and take it direct.
