halight
Whats your plan for it mate? Are you going to clan it up and get it working again? Any plans on using it ? Or
BSA-airgunner
i would love to fire it the hammers work and the pins are ok sort of one of them sticks but thats an easy fix i may get to see the gun again tomorrow as i want to have another look for proof marks and such ..BSA started production of 12g shotguns in 1920 and this finished in 1939 and i have found out that BSA shotgun barrels were used by other manufacturers so this may not be a BSA all though BSA is clearly stamped on the barrels along with the upright standing gun motif . to be honest me thinks if the gun is to be used again it will be sent away and re proofed the bores are dirty but with out cleaning i dont know the condition

Is the Gun for sale, are you thinking of buying it? If so and it can not be fixed up at a reusable cost, How about cleaning it up and mounting it in a case and displaying it on your wall ? HDAV
If bores are clean still in proof it would be a crying shame to deactivate a nitro proofed hammer even if 2.5" chambers! Was it reproofed nitro? Or nitro from the off?
derbyduck
Just one thing ! for this gun to be sold it must be in Proof ! it can be given or gifted or exchanged for a bag of carrots , but no Money . and thats the law

BSA-airgunner
i have found info and it would seem that the date marks were not used in the start of production from 1900 . in 1915 - 1920 date stamps were being used... here is more info including the above there is a good quality picture at the bottom of the artical showing the exact marking on the gun i have been to see............ http://www.fishnhunt...&num=1304414123 my marks markings from the artical Edited August 8, 2012 by BSA-airgunner
fo5ter
I read on here that getting a gun reproofed is about £80? seems worth the try to me, then tidy it up nicely and you will have a working piece of history, such a shame to deactivate guns just because they're old, save that for if a pin breaks and it's uneconomical to repair Edited August 8, 2012 by fo5ter
HDAV
really you need a smith to measure the bores and tell you if it is still in proof or not, light pitting can be lapped out and it depends on how thick the tubes are.
