the butcher who i supply has always told me that its perfectly ok so supply pigeons and rabbits in feather and fur, but if you supply them prepared for the oven you need a licence. my butcher pays me £1.50 for gutted rabbits {headshot} and 50p for pigeons in feather {20p more than the game dealer}. you might get a bit more from a pub. not sure about the venison might be more to it with that. :good:

Here you go, its a bit complicated, but the flow diagrams should send you in the right direction.

As for price, I don't know, I normally exchange the odd rabbit for beer.

cheers...

So i can supply them in the fur or feather but if i make them "oven ready" i need to register then

Pretty much, the salient point is 'preparing' food, which requires certain amounts of hygeine training, documentation, food chain information etc, you can only skirt this by supplying small amounts of food though.

No, my understanding is..

Do you shoot game, process it and supply

small quantities of game meat to final

consumers or local retailers?

If Yes

You must register as a food business because you are supplying prepared wild game meat (even if supply is in small quantities

If you are supplying the animals in fur or feather to a establishment, then it is them who has the onus of having the correct FBO registration and comply with the usual traceability guidelines.

The 'hunter expemption' IMO won't apply to you.
