spanj
Hi all What are you paying for bagged wheat around the Lancashire area £180 - £190 but (surprise surprise) believe its going up................ because americas crop has failed ........... AGAIN
39TDS
Americas crop hasn't failed, in fact it was reasonably good on the whole. Britains crop has very nearly failed, crop weights and quality are very low this year.

39TDS
Wasn't only you mate, most farmers would say the same, except American ones of course.
Dunteige Mallard
Count yourselves lucky it's currently sitting around £260 per tonne for wheat in N Ireland
hillmouse
If you can buy it bagged at that price take as much as you can. Currently £200+ ex farm off the floor and about £240 transported and blown. Quality and yield is well below average so expect plenty of expensive 2nd rate feed wheat. al4x
the only upside is some with milling contracts may dress what they have hard and that takes out all the small grains which they may flog at a slightly more reasonable price. One near us has been onto one of the larger local shoots to try and interest them in some.

Alycidon
Wheat cutting has yesterday started on the farm here. Crops are very disappointing, about 2.5T due to lack of sun. Price is currently around 190/200 a ton ex farm. A
hillmouse
Todays price is £208 ex farm for wheat and £185 for barley. Saturday 25th August. Fixed until November. Add a lump for cleaning and transport and this is going to be a tough season to break even on a shoot budget.
