B725
Try a lighter pellet I had some 21g Logun pellets and it was Logun that told me not to use them in the sub12 air rifle. The fact that the pellets and gun are about your person is enough to be done if the police had any idea what they where looking at. bedwards1966
While the firearm should be as described (i.e under the legal limit), I think that you would be trouble, even though it's reasonable to expect it to be OK looking at where you purchased it. I'm sure the gunsmith would be in a lot of trouble for supplying it, you'd both have problems. Do not just use lighter pellets, as you are still breaking the law as it's capable of exceeding the legal limit, regardless of whether you use pellets to achieve that power level or not. Get it adjusted down to a level that ensures it can never go over, no matter what pellets the police put through it if ever it's seized. I have to agree with you to a point but some people wash, resize and lubricate the pellets to try and get the most out of the gun but it would have to be a sharp eyed police man to know.It also could be his chrono is not that accurate. ballzy1978
the chrono is supposed to be accurate to whitin 1 percent i,ll try it on another chrono but my two friends have just bought there guns form an aigun mag and both have a certificate as to what the rifle is averageing at and both are more or less spot on so i think my chrono is ok
B725
It may be wise to to check it with one in a air gun shop as these tend to be very good, good luck with it.

scobydog
Long time ago now, i bought an air rifle called a chinese lion, got it from manchester airguns when they were on oldham street mcr, anyhow used it on our farm for a couple of years then went to a local rifle club to do some targets, the guy running it tried it out did some shots at weighted targets and said it was easy pushing out 16/17 lb ft and to get it toned down to 12lb ft or i could be in trouble. Thing is that is how i bought it and even the box it came in said 12lb ft maximum power, so maybe we should have new air rifles checked for power output by the shop when they are sold. mossy835
some time ago, my mate was shooting in a field and 2 coppers saw him, took the gun off him and had it tested it was ok, and gave it back so you never know.
secretagentmole
HW100s can run hot after a period of time, the grease on one of the springs can thicken, leaving the valve open longer and more air in, so more power! Take it in for a decent service, clean and relube (yes the HW100 does have lube on some of the internal springs too)! topshunt
as you have had you gun for 2 years now how can it be the gun shops fault that your rifle is over the legal limit, it is your responsability to check it regulary to ensure it is below the legal limit. every air rifle pcp/spring powered, even from new is capable of the power creeping up and over the legal limit just from the barrel being bedded in. You need to take it to a gunshop and maybe send it off to reduce the power asap before you use it again as it is classed as a fac. and there fore breaking the law. if the police tested it they would use a selection on pellets ( different weights) and even if one of them was over the limit then its bye bye gun and whatever offence/fine they throw at you. get it sorted not worth the trouble if you were to get caught. ballzy1978
i am going to get it sorted asap but as far as being my responsibility ave only shot two tins ov pellets through it and as ive always bought my guns from the same shop i presumed that the gun would be sub 12ft pounds and if i got stopped they would ov been able to c that no screws have been tampered with
secretagentmole
Does nto matetr if the screws are altered or not, still your problem, not the makers or the gun shop!
B725
Does nto matetr if the screws are altered or not, still your problem, not the makers or the gun shop! I had a similar problem with aTheobeon, had from new from air gun shop in Notts, they claimed I must have altered it.After phone call to BASC they said it was up to the shop to prove it was my fault not for me to prove I had not altered it.As the gun has anti tamper marks on the internals It was repaired and down rated to sub 12 as it should have been.Again as said by BASC they would not want police involvement for fear of losing the frd they had.The gun was at fault from new.
