New Ground in Cumbria

Recommended Posts

Hi eveyone,

Anyone interested in coming along to our next shoot on sunday 2nd september? we usually have a 50 bird open sporting competition every other sunday which there is cash awarded to the high gun of the day and a prize given to the high lady gun of the day.

The ground itself is set on the far edge of a beautiful estate with stunning views of the western fells and the eastern pennines, we do not allow plastic wads on the ground but you will see why if you ever see the ground, it is not an easy ground to shoot but all the targets are fair and all very much shootable, the targets are changed every time we shoot so your not shooting the same targets over and over again.

On each shoot the entries are from 10-30am until 3-00pm, there is a clubhouse which is warm and friendly there is refreshments, cartridges available on the day.

It would be good to see some new faces there as our goal is to provide some where for clay shooters in the northwest to come along an have a good day, we have regular guys who are coming down from southern scotland, northeast england and some further afield so we must be doing something right but to be honset not many people know we have regular shoots up here! we do not have registered shoots (yet) but you can re enter our competitions as many times as you like just to get practice in if you need it.

Feel free to ask if there is anything else you want to know.

Regards cts.

What's it like underfoot, dry, wet, muddy? Do I need a 4x4? How much?

The shooting ground itself is situated on hard ground it used to be two old quarries many years ago which has now been landscaped and grown over many of the footpaths are hard stone even after all the bloody rain we have had this summer its still good going on foot we don't see many guys in wellies just boots even trainers on dry days, its know where near as muddy as some of the grounds we've been to.

As for access you can drive a car up the track no problem and there's plenty of car parking,we are situated on high ground and on windy days the targets get really interesting.

We charge £15 first entry for 50 birds then £12 if you go round again.

Hope this helps Blaser.
