scolopax
So what was your most dissappointing opening day ? Mine was three season ago, nine guns out on one of our better marshes and not a shot fired between us. Many hundreds of geese flighted, but all off the reserve area and then onto the fields bypassing our shooting area. No tide either so no duck. We sometimes, maybe one year in four, used to get fantastic numbers of Teal on the opening day, thousands of birds on the estuary flying around in springs of up to 50. Not happened for probably ten years now, they used to feed on the mud just like the shellies, dabbling for hydrobia, their crops used to the stuffed with the tiny snails. anser2
Last season was probably my worst opening day. Never saw a duck or goose despite one of the best breeding seasons for years.
chrispti
Last year. I was uming and aring where to sit. Decided which end to go, just as the sun broke it sounded like ww2 had kicked off up the other end. Made up for it on the last day though. ayano3
It will be a bad opening day when I'm in two minds wether to go or not. When that day comes I will be asking myself is it time to hang up the gun for the final time.
