I have posted a topic earlier this year, it seems to have dissappeared, in which i was asking what waterproof clothing to get for fowling this season.

Well i finally settled on the Deerhunter Rusky coat and bib 'n' brace trousers, the coat arrived today and its brilliant well worth the cash IMO (still to be tested tho). And i hope that when the trousers come theyll be just as good too.

Its very warm and 2 coats in one too!

I used to use a Barbour longshoreman and rubber waders. Upgraded to neoprene waders about 7 years ago. (great move) and upgraded my coat to a prologic wetlands one last year. Its much easier to wash than a wax one and doesn't stiffen up in the cold! Looking forward to Saturday Morning now! :good:

I have been impressed by rivers west eider and have mentioned it previously. It aint let water in till the other day in a realy torrential downpour- leaking at seams some but the fabric is totally fine. Came in and had a T shape on my t- shirt were the seams are and two lines were top stiching on breast pockets are. Two full seasons on the marsh, regular wash+dry cycles

Clothing has vastly improved since I started. I think the older generation mostly started out with some form of wax jacket.

I hated the blooming things, never found them warm, and the stiffness when wet used to really bug me!!.

I do have a deerhunter jacket myself and have been so impressed by it. I`ve also used an Austrian Goretex military jacket, again excellent. [till the new pup got it!!].

But, I`ve just treat myself [or the wife has!!!] to a Drake waterfowl jacket. No doubt it`ll be tested out this season.

I've got a TF Gear force 8 jacket that I bought for winter pike fishing in the fens and can honestly say its the best thing I've ever bought. It's totally 100% waterproof even in the worst downpours, it has a removable inner fleece which is properly secured in place (unlike some other ones I've had) it has kept me warm in temperatures cold enough to freeze the devil, even with the fen winds howling. It is in real tree camo and has a kind of soft finish so is silent when I'm out with the gun and doesn't make that horrible 'scratchy' noise some other jackets make.

In short, it's great. Buy one.

You can get matching trousers too!
