Man-o-woods
I have permission to shoot over 200 acrs of corn in North Hampshire. The crop is still standing as the corn is still soft. Was shooting over it last weekend and noticed that it smelt as if it was rotting. What are the chances of the crop hardening off now or has it gone past that. What will happen if the crop has gone over? can it still be harvested? al4x
basically it will eventually start to sprout then it is knackered, the smell may be straw at the base rotting but it will be getting close to loosing the lot unless they harvest soon
Harnser
I assume its wheat and not barley . Still fields of wheat not yet harvested round here . Wheat is the last of the cereals to be harvested and could go into september before combining . Harnser .
TR1
If it can be sprayed off then it could be salvaged. If not then maybe you will be in for a good autumn as it will attract birds when all else is cleared up. If you get overrun on it give me a shout I am only up the road. aauser
This could be a disease the plant gets at an early stage of its growth it's called stinking bunt but is quite rarely seen now due to the chemicals used to spray. But it all depends on how the seed was treated before sowing
motty
I still have fields of wheat and barley that have not been cut yet. Hopefully these will produce some decent sport for me, as all the other fields around get ploughed etc.
