Guest charlie
I would appreciate any views or experiences of the Etherington pigeon magnet. The reason why I ask is he advertises in the Countrymans Weekly and it is only £60-00 plus postage. Considerably cheaper than the others on the market at around £200-00. Am I being over cautious? The Sniper
Charlie, Before I put my size 12 in it, is this the one that they sell at York Guns ? If so, you will find it is a bit on the heavy side. I bought one from there, and like all other rotors it will do the job on the day, but not every time. The day and land you use it on has to be right. I have found rotors are no good on drilled land.
Cranfield
Just on a point of fairness. I think the rotary decoy device name "Magnet", is a registered trademark. You are referring to a rotary decoy device made by Etherington, it won,t be called a "Magnet".
sean johnston
Well you get what you pay for dont you.I am unfamiliar with the ethrington rotor but it will probably be one of the rotors that uses a windscreen wiper motor which are without doubt too heavy and do not run long enough unless you use a massive battery which adds more weight. I now have a rotor coy purchased from ############## and i am absolutely delighted with it,it's nice and light and probably runs longer than any other rotor on the market. Pigeon Pieman
I'm not sure we always get what we pay for - sometimes the most expensive isn't necessarily the best. I also think some of the gadgets on the market are there to catch the shooter rather than the prey Having said that, people tend to rate rotory devices against two fundamental criteria - weight and battery size/life. Personally, I have a Pinewood rotary but my dad uses an original Pigeon Magnet. His is very heavy and mine isn't. As a big lad I take the nearest one to the door each time I go out. I use 12v wheelchair batteries and have a purpose built carrier for them but don't find the weight a problem personally. If I have to make two trips from the car (assuming I can't drive over to my hide) then so be it. I'll probably spend the rest of the day sitting down anyway Ultimately its your choice. If you don't mind a bit of extra weight or extra leg work but the cheaper rotary. I'll work the same - just give you bigger muscles moving it around Cheers PP
Guest charlie
Thank you everyone, Weight is not a problem, but reliability would be. Just hoped that someone had experience of the etherington. I am not sure if its available at the York guns, but he does live in York so it maybe. Yes I am aware of the "Magnet" trade mark. Thanks again
rjimmer
Someone mentioned the Vortex somewhere! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/...ortex_large.wmv No appologies for possible advertizing. I think the laugh is worth it!
Ferritphil
The etherington is advertised as a pigoen decoy not a magnet. I bought one of mick Etherintons pigoen decoyer about 12 months ago and i shoot about 5 days a week. I find it heavey as im on crutches but IKEA dont make them. A lot of friends ive been out with all asked can u get me one. No trouble-- and up to press ive sold about 15 all with a 12 months garentee and no complaints.
