Yes I saw it , I am working on the sunday , will be fishing on the Friday night .

Cant really say that I would be keen on a cooking on the beach anyway , I have enough gear to lug as it is .

I would certainly be up for a meet sometime though, but I tend to do most of my fishing mid week.

I would have them off him but will stick to the centurys G5 as suit my style better

Yeah, I would too. the Centurys are four times the rod that the Salts are!

Don't get me wrong, the Salts are good for what they are, but built to a budget,. The Century rods are quality blanks and streets apart. I have a 14' Salt which is good for light work, I also have a Century Tip Tornado Light which I use for just about everything else until it gets real heavy in which case I use a Shambrook AnyfishAnywhere 6 plus bait.

Nearest saltwater for me is 200 round trip! Hence why have not been for a while!

I still use and love my century fireblade - brilliant rod

I agree that centurys will be much better rods , but for around 6 times the price they should be .

It is also worth noting that a good rod will only cast further in capable hands , for example my salts were putting a lead around 3 times the distance as leeds chimps centurys, no disrespect to him as he is fairly new to the sport and no doubt will improve the more he goes , if you have not got a good style then it is unlikely you will gain much by spending a fortune on top notch rods.

Agreed mate, don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the Salts, for what you pay they are decent rods. And as with all things, it doesn't matter how much money you throw at a hobby, if you don't have the skills you wil be beaten.

I can outcast some lads with Zzippys, and be outcast by old boys with 20 year old fibreglass rods, but I catch a few and enjoy my time on the beach, my experience is enhanced by using a nice rod though.
