Escort Semi Auto

Hi,

Just bought a new Escort Semi Auto from the Midland Game Fair.

Used it for the first time yesterday, only fired about 75 shell's but couldn't believe how hard it was to load cartridges into the magazine.

It was almost as though where you slide the shells in, isn't lined up correctly with the magazine tube.

The first cartridge to go in had to be virtually forced up the tube and virtually every other one moved about to get it to go.

Anyone else experienced this problem.

Is it just because it's new.

Is it just because it's cheap.!!!

Wish I'd bought that new Extrema.!!

Thanks for the advise.

Really just feel like selling it, it's a bit short in the stock for me anyway.

Might just be cos it's new I'll take a closer look at it and see if I can find the cause.

It did the same with various makes of cartridge.

Getting a cartridge into the magazine for the first time took quite a bit of force.

If anyone else has experienced any problems please let me know.

I gess that its hard to beat a Beretta.

The Escort is basically the old 302/303 Beretta semi. It comes out of the Beretta factory, and assembled in Turkey, some Beretta chokes are inter-changeable with it. I bought the Escort double magnum FAC, wacking 3.5 2.25 oz through it never had any trouble with it, in fact it handles better than my Xtrema.

i was in the gun trade for many years and in my country(MALTA) i was the agent for escort apart from other makes .

well it is not a bad gun for its price the mechanics in it is copied from the franchi auto and none of it is done by beretta rest assured . your problem is the magazine tube spring and feeder . what i suggest you do is from the top of the mag tube release the spring and slider and check it out try to open a bit the spring and assamble everything again and see how it goes . while i was in the uk lately i was testing the new extrema 2

and i tell you it is a gun difficult to beat it is recoil less light and fanatasic to shoot now my favourite shot guns are bennelli's and can not complain about them but i tell you the extrema is on my xmas list . Also please do not try to compare the escort to berretta material wise believe me . there is no way in hell that you can have them on the same shelf but as i used to say to my clients for its price the escort is a very good gun and it is the best of the cheapest as i have been to there factory and they are 1 of the best 2 there are in turkey,. it will work fine with 32g cartridges upwards but make sure that the cartridges you use have a good rim as some times it can be a bit funny on what it cycles . i wish you have a lot of enjoyment with your new gun it is a good gun to start off on till you go for an upper auto model .

About a tenner gets you a rubber recoil pad/extension. Our new escort was a little tight to load on our first outing, on stripping and cleaning the mag was lose, screwed it up and it loads snap caps ok, not had a chance to try any real cartridges through it yet. BTW, cycles OK on 24g and 28g. This is the second escort that we have. The other is the youth model 20g, so far no probs and on 24g cartridges.

Thanks All,

I will give it a go.

If anyone wants to buy it I may be interested in selling as I've found a Beretta 391 Teknys Secondhand I'm interested in.

Obviously it comes with the balance of the 3 year warranty which I haven't yet sent off as only bought it on Saturday.

Hi,

Know what you mean but like I say I haven't had a chance to look at it, I'm sure it's nothing much it may be just because it's new.

If it isn't just that then it's covered by the warranty anyway so even if it was a probelm it would be fixed.

I'm terrible with things, if the don't work 100% as soon as I get them then I've got no patience to look at them. I was after a Beretta at the show so don't really think I will be happy until I get one.

It shoots fine and it cycled every cartridge I put in it (and I tried about 6 different makes/sizes form 24g to 32g)

I do know where you are coming from but think someone will get a bargain. It really has only fired 75 shells max.

I've advertised it at £225 so will see what happens.
