decoyally
Do I send my firearms certificate when getting a variation? Just curious because mines isn't in good order and wouldn't mind getting a fresh one!?
Blunderbust
I sent mine in the last variation I had, I was not sure so phoned and asked the FAD. You can also ask what the rough turn round period is likely to be. I then made sure I was up to my max on the various ammo before I sent it off. Kes
You paid for the certificate and they should have hard and electronic copies if they need them - NO is the answer. When I stopped rifles for a while I had to explain what experience I had had before to justify an early open cert and avoid mentoring. - I showed them my old certs - never know when you might need them so KEEP them. JonathanL
You should send it in. If you are swapping one rifle for another and you didn't send it in then you would be in the position of being in possession of two valid certificates showing authorisations to acquire different guns. For instance; if you had a .223 and wanted to change it for a .222 the police would send you a newly printed FAC with a .222 on but you would still have your old one so you could also buy a .223. J. The new cert was back in 2 ½ working days. If I had sent it in then I would have been with out my cert for 3 weeks!! Your cert is yours and no ones else’s it is issued to you. As you know they have all your details so I that is why I kept mine until the feo needed it. TEH
steve_b_wales
You will need to send it in for a variation. If it's in a bad state, you will get a new one.

I've never heard of anyone getting a visit in relation to a variation. It would seem to be a massive waste of time of money. J.

Dad was not renewing his cert, I was taking it over the .22 so that was the reason for the variation and I had applied to have the closed condition removed. (http://forums.pigeon...ost__p__1900440 ) That’s it in a nut shell, but I do believe they do visit for variations. I have nothing in mind to add to my cert in the near future as the .243 and .22 cover all what I want to shoot. TEH

That was a fair while back though
