jam1e
Hi folks. I'm trying to find a gun/rifle club within 20-30 miles from me. I live in the WR11 area between Evesham, Worcestershire and Straford on Avon in Warwickshire. I've tried the"Worcester Norton" club but there a waiting list. And i know about the Wedgnock club in Warwick. Which is a great club, and the people are very friendly. But, i can't use my .204 ruger there. Anybody know of any other clubs that are in my area the would accept a .204 cf? Cheers Jamie

Dekers
The simple answer is no, few clubs will take it. Without trying to state the obvious, it is a Pest Control/Hunting caliber, too fast for any MoD range and a lot of private ones. I've not played with a .204 for a couple of years, do they do a FMJ round, I guess so but I don't know, do you have a Target condition on your FAC? The stupidity of our licensing system is you cannot use a range unless you do, you can only Zero (assuming you have a zeroing condition of course), and you will virtually never get a target condition for Expanding Ammo use, you will need a FMJ (Target round). I'd be interested to hear how this turns out!

jam1e
I can't believe the size of the calibres that are permitted on a few nice local-ish rifle ranges. But what makes the difference is "speed" Most clubs allow very nice huge calibre underlever rifles, yet the max fps is that of the .17hmr as max! Surely the hmr would lose most of its "lethal" kinetic energy long before, say the .375 cf underlever rifle would??? Could someone with more knowledge enlighten me?? baconbuttie
If Gloucestershire isn't too far, I'll check with our chairman. I use my 22-250 there, and I know someone that use a .17 Fireball.

It is not uncommon for ranges to have speed, calibre and energy regulations, sometimes specific type of ammo as well. Some, or all of the above. These regulations will tend to revolve around the Club Rules and will commonly stem from Insurance stipulations. Club Rules will vary from club to club, MoD ranges have the same rules throughout. Nobody can give you a specific answer to your question, you will need to ask the individual range!
