Albert 888
As above just getting into target shooting at the moment and doing 100-300yrds informal practice at the moment, but would like to do a bit more out of season maybe 500yrds.I have a old and proven tasco worldclass 4x16x44 on the .223 I can see the bullet holes at 100 200yrds but not 300yrds on a overcast day. Also can see the bullet travel to the target through this scope. What im after is a bigger mag and a 30mm tube and a 50mm objective,as i have mounts allready to suit. And would like to see the bullet holes at 300-500yrds if possible. The scope thats keeps poping up is the leupold vx3 6.5-20x50 LR with target turrets and fine reticule at £879 with a free range finder at uttings. Will this be suitable for what im after.Or anything else please mention. Cheers Albert
al4x
I'd suggest a night force would probably suit you more

I thought the mark 4 was a lower grade as they are cheaper than th vx3?..What was wrong with it if you dont mind me asking.
Amazed
Just a thought, why don't you get a spotting scope ? So you can see your impacts. There about 50 notes something like 50 x mag 60 mm lens then keep the scope you have for now. And save for a really nice long range scope if that's what you are getting into. I have a spotting scope aldi one and its usless,i can see better through my opticron 10x25 binos. On a good day i can see the holes at 300 in the black with the tasco. You cant realy on the pointers in the butts as its quite a hard job pointing and watching the holes. I will save i think and see what crops up. Thanks for the thoughts though. Not keen on welding it though a couple of cable ties will do the job

Gimlet
Second hand Swarovski Z6 2.5-15 X 56? You can get tidy ones for not much more than the Leupold and ideal for your foxing. Use a spotting scope at the range.
al4x
have a look on the SD not sure on the legality of links but this looks mint and would suit you down to the ground and down to £900 I'd actually argue with Gimlet about the Z6 I couldn't get on with the non illuminated ret foxing as its too fine, however the illuminated version is the doggies dangly bits. I reckon a fair few are finding the same as a lot seem to be sold on http://www.thestalki...e-nxs-5-5x22-56 Edited November 14, 2012 by al4x
