Bisley butt pad

presume you refer to the adjustable butt pad? If so they are easy to fit. Aluminium plate files down very easily. Will almost certainly need new screw holes into stock end, suggest you drill pilot holes to avoid any risk of splitting the stock.

Protect stock by wrapping several turns of masking tape around it so you don't file / mark the stock as you get close. At the point where I was starting to file the tape I took the pad off and finished it with some coarse then finer sand paper.

I don't know about helping with recoil as only fitted to air and .22 rifles as I wanted it for the ability to adjust rather than any recoil properties.
