woodcock1
It sure is. My father waited a long time to get a stock so good. It was very well cared for and is in immaculate condition.
longrangesniper1953
Hi Mate She sure is a lovely Rifle Your Anschutz .22WMR and a gorgous piece of wood, problem is its not a popular calibre in the UK .22WMR, you would sell her easy in the USA its one of their favorite Gator Guns out there, Im a Bit puzzled as to the Model you say it is , does she have the Model No stamped on her. It Looks awfull like the earlier 1522 Model from 1975 or the 1422 Model from 1981 both have the Schnable Stock and the 54 type flag safety catch , there must be a date stamp on the barrel is there not , I know sometimes they did not put the model number on them ? According to what I can see it falls into one or other of the two Models I have mentioned above. I think unless you find someone who is a collector you might struggle to achieve your £500.00 I would have thought more like £300.00 Private and on a good day £200.00 - £250.00 from a Dealer The price of the ammo is the Killer in the UK coss they just arnt as popular as the USA Good luck with the sale , unfortunately I think you will be stuck with it for a while Mate All the Best Regards Steve
woodcock1
Hi steve, Thanks for your input,he gun was purchased NEW in 2006 and was imported into Northern Ireland direct from Anschutz. He had to wait a long time to get it. It clearly states model 1720 on the barrell. At the time of purchase the PSNI in were not in the habit of issuing permits for centre fire rifles and he was advised against even applying for one and the .22 wmr was the most powerful rimfire available. I have a possible buyer from another forum wishing to view this weekend. With regard to the two models you have mentioned bot of them have different trigger and guard assemblys. longrangesniper1953
Hi Mate Your rifle has the same stock as the Model one's I mention , It has the same rear sight, and the same bolt , what I cannot understand Anschutz dont mention a 1720 .22WMR Magnum in their list what so ever especially withe the 1720 prefix , please see the link suplied with my email http://jga.anschuetz...u=226&sprache=1 hope this helps with my queery. Its a very lovely rifle but given the uncertainty with the model and the age I wouldnt want to pay more than £300.00 for it myself , The Rifle should have the date and proof marks on it I dont suppose you could take a good close up for me to see it should have a Number and a letter with it for the date, just as a note the new .22WMR is Model number 1516 and not in the 1700 series ? there's certainly something that doesnt add up with it ? Hope this helps All the best Regards Steve
Medic1281
http://www.shooterscatalogue.com/manuals/BA%201700%20englisch.pdf I don't know how to do links properly, but if you copy and paste the above it should link you to the official Anschutz instruction manual for that exact model. So on that basis they must have made one!
longrangesniper1953
Hi Mate All you do is when your sat at your computer and reading my notes you just put your cursor over it and click and it should open another page , if you look on that page which is the Official Anschutz Page they do not list it , I have to agree that you are right and the link for the Instruction leaflet shows your model 1720 and others from 1702 to 1740E which includes your Model, what I can understand is why they havnt included it in their list ( Anschutz ) unless it was made for another Market such as the USA . I dont know if you have noticed it says in the instruction leaflet that the Barrel and Action are packed sepperately for shipment and need assembled , I recon its def been made for the foreign Market. I Have one that is the Very same an Anschutz 1432 EKSt in .22 Hornet with Match set Trigger it was hard to find details about that for some time , It was originally designed for them to Practice Shooting of the Running Boar Target I am told on good authority. It appears sometimes that they design Rifles specific for other Markets, did you take a picture of the date and proof marks for me to have a look at please. Still a lovelly Rifle though. Whitebridges
Lovely looking rifle, you'll sell it for £500 no problem. If I has a slot for .22WMR i'd snap your arm off. Good luck with the sale. Edited December 20, 2012 by Whitebridges
