dazzyboi
I have some farm land under my belt (for live quarry), but i am thinking about getting a clay trap (either a handheld one or something portable but cheap. Only problem is where to bust them? Has anybody else been able to bust some clays in there own space just for abit of practise? One of the farms i shoot on says that his brother does shoot some clays once a month up one of his back fields..But i would feel rude asking as im making a mess over his land rather than controlling the live game. I would rather get my own clay trap as its alot cheaper than going to a clay ground and i would be more inclined to get some practise in without breaking the bank. There is 2 large abandoned quarrys round by me which people use for biking, scrambling etc without any permission, is this a big no no? Its a very large area and no one works in it anymore. dazzyboi
i dont really want to ask, i only have 2 farms and i have been very lucky to get these! if i ask him to start making a mess of his land with clays he might look at me in a different light, taking the concentration off of the rabbit problem. pin
Give it six months, complain you have shot all the rabbits and ask then, when he's has a chance to see you around and know you are trustworthy. In that time look for somewhere suitable to do it so when the time comes you know whats what.

Bearing in mind it would have to be 2 people, one to oporate the clay or sling, and me.
Spaniel
All I can suggest is make sure you dont leave broken clays around on the ground, otherwise you could find yourself losing the shooting ground. Especialy if he gets any animals injured by broken clay bits.... Go careful Spaniel
pin
Its one of those things, you can probably tell if he will let you or not, depends on what he does on the farm and how he sees "the mess". I know one of my permissions wouldn't care less, but to be fair he doesn't seem to mind what I do Its one of those things, find the right time and the right words and you are laffin

dazzyboi
Im very lucky, both land owners are very very friendly, they love me, but im just one of the people who are afraid to ask certain questions. I think i will ask about abit, i might drop a suttle hint when im at the one who lets his brother shoot clays up the back field, will probably go something like this... "so has your brother been shooting some clays lately....iv just bought a clay trap for some practise but i got no where to use it, the clay club up ****** is far too expensive these days". I can image him turning round saying, "bring it up mine" he has guns aswel but not enough time to go out and shoot.
