Moors Man
Hi Everyone Can anyone let me know where I can get hold of a copy of a chart I have seen showing the distance shot carries in different wind conditions and how the wind effects the different shot sizes. JJsDad
Are you actually refering to patterning sheets for a shotgun ? You can get charts for the ammount of deflection on rifle bullets as a result of various wind conditions; but have never seen one for shotguns. As most game / wildfowl / vermin and clays are shot at less than 40 yrds I would have thought the deflection caused by wind is in inches which is somewhat difficult to build into your swing when a pigeon or duck goes flashing past with the wind behind him. I would also suspect that the decrease in velocity of the pellets over say 40 yrds is so small that it has no practical effect on the striking energy delivered onto the target. Perhaps this is why I missed a perfectly easy cock pheasant last Saturday !!
Guest cookoff013
wind? shotsizes? shotguns run beyond normal skill, just select a load that appropriate to the distance. i dont really want to be hearing #6 for everything. thats a crappi myth. just buy decent cartridges and have fun. consiquently i run multiple cartridges for the different applications. just live in reality, shoot something big enough, and it isnt going to matter one thing that its shot at 800fps or 1600fps. Moors Man
Thanks that is exactly what I was after. Cheers
JJsDad
The reason a couple of us got confused was the wording of the original question. You asked for wind effect on the pellet on deflection and range !
