Cake444
I recently moved house and installed my cabinet in the best place given the property. The former FAO has unfortunately been made redundant and the job has now been passed over to the fire arms department. The new FAO came over the other day to inspect the cabinet. It was a thorough inspection and they asked me to open the cabinet to see fittings and also took down the serial numbers of three guns to match them to the certificate. They then took the old certificate and said a new one would be with me within a few days. I’ve never had an experience where they have asked me to open the cabinet and check serial numbers, just wondered if anybody else had experienced this. Many thanks. al4x
yep its fairly standard practice to make sure as much as anything that they have all the correct information. The only time mine ever found anything incorrect they found the same thing three times on the trot and failed to change it. Purely I had an auto which the dealer when I bought it gave the barrel number not the action one so pretty straight forward.

vulpicide
You should not return the cetificate until the expiry date A. your knew certificate is only valid between the dates on it so you need your current one till it expires. B. you cannot buy ammo, travel on ferries or put a gun into be repaired or stored without a valid certificate.

Shame, he knew his stuff. Mind you, he never checked my serial numbers.
BRNDL
Does the FAO ever turn up unannounced or is an appointment made?
