stumfelter
Hi, I have a .22 shotgun (anschutz bolt action) and just wondered if anyone has any experience with using one for rats, at the moment I'm using an air rifle but would love to give it a try. I use one all the time. Great fun and a great tool in the right situation. Edd
stumfelter
What sort of range can you shoot them at? I tried it at the clay ground (static) and could break them out to eight yards but wondered if it had the pattern to stop rats.
eddoakley
I use it inside storage sheds and barns so for me the max range I need is no more than 5-6 yards, usually less but I find that it does the job. Edd

ferretfiddler
5-6 yards from a rat ! I would fill my y fronts & run off like a screaming skull aka phill21 hehehe preference to hit em hard with my Daystate .22 at 10+ yards & still squeal ,-)
Mr Majyk
.22 shotshells, bout the only thing you can do with them is mildly annoy a butterfly personally id stick with an air rifle but id use a .17 flatter trajectory but thats just my personal choice. give it a go and tell us how you find it! bruno22rf
My mate used to use one all the time-he had a Maglite taped underneath the gun and a laser pen duck taped to the side of it (you need to carefully align it with the barrel) then it was brilliant for sneaking around the feed barns with the maglite beam set at about a metre spread he kept his thumb on the laser pen switch and shot from the hip-as soon as he picked up Ratty eyes it took seconds to put the red dot on it and pull the trigger. Most were killed clean but the odd one that was'nt was soon finished off by its mates.
