new to the flock
Some of you may remember I picked up a New Lab last May, http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=18591 Big hulk of a brute at 14 months and did not know jack. I spent July and August teaching the poor boy how to swim, and managed to get his confidance up in calm still water. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=21359 Well this evening was Coals first hunt of any kind, actually his first birds of any kind, and the retrieves were in a fairly strong current. He panicked a bit when he first hit the water...could because he submerged himself completely....but after a couple of minutes figured out the entry from a high bank, and how to swim the current. Shot a little Green Winged Teal and a Woody and the young boy retrieved them both. A long way to go yet but we are started on the right foot at least. Cranfield
Assuming that is a gun the big lump is laying on, it would appear to have a nice bit of wood on it. You are obviously a man of great patience, an untouched Lab at 18 months would be one of my worst nightmares.
new to the flock
Cranfield, the gun that the big Lug is laying on is my training gun, it gets laid down where ever and when ever needed and has seen more mud than gun oil. It is a sbs 20 guage savage in a synthetic stock, and is an absolute dream to shoot and hunt with. Choked open and open it is fabulous on woodcock but will still take pheasants out at 40 yards. I would have to say it is my absolute favourite in the cabnet. NTTF
