He said he was going to put it on Youtube but all you could hear was "******* H**l & What the ****. He is a PW Member (kev i) and offered to take me out but, all you need is a ticket £6.00 if you are a BASC Member. Whatever you do......go with a local shooter, it can be a death trap. Many years ago Scottish Solway Wildfowlers negotiated an access arrangement that would allow anyone with a permit to access Auchencairn Bay while carrying a shotgun. This permit is no longer necessary since the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (Section 2.12) now allows anyone with a firearm to cross land to immediately access or return from an area where they have the right to shoot. Since the public can shoot on most of Scotland’s foreshore there is now no need for a permit for access – you can cross private ground without one. However out of respect and support for the local Wildfowling club - I for one would be happy to buy a day ticket (or 2). So can anyone post/attached or what ever the contact details of who ever it is I need to contact to acquire said day ticket. Thanks PS. You'll have to visit his house to pick one up, but he'll show you some maps so you know where to park and access the marsh etc. He wasn't home when I went last time but his wife issued the pass for me. I'm up here this week and I'm on my way out the door now to try a bag a pink or two. There's plenty of geese about, but getting under them may be difficult. (Word of warning... I was out with a guide yesterday, he mentioned that 2 fowlers where shooting on a reserve in December which they had previously shot some years ago, they hadn't realised that this particular spot was no longer accessible for shooting. They where escorted off by the police and where fined £2500 each! One of them had some lead cartridges in his pocket and is in a fair bit of trouble for that too!! I don't think there is any doubt regards the law and access. The SSWA existed before the law changed so I think it only right that visiting fowlers continue to support them by buying their tickets. I'm not familiar with Auchencairn but I am with Browell etc and can't see the sense of having to stay below the HWM for the sake of £6. Other shooting areas are available from from local wildfowling club/s (see previous posts on this thread). Wigtown Bay is free all you do is down load the permit and send it off just google wigtown bay wildfowling, its ok like most places and does get busy with folk i would say are not proper fowlers but that's life, you pick the week but you cant pick the weather all the time, so geese are well earned on these parts of the Solway and as years have gone by they turn up later every year but i like it and have been going a fair few years and mainly the last weeks of the season to see the end of the season off on a holiday and you see the same folk year every year so its a bit of a catch up.
