Gee.
Hi guys after some advice on raising the comb on my 452 TH, as most owners are probably aware the rifle has a straight comb stock. this is giving me problems in that i cannot seem to get a consistent cheek weld and have to sort of 'hover' and we all know how bad that is. Im using an MTC mamba 3-12x44 with their supplied mounts. Was considering replacing the mounts for some medium Sportsmatch items which appear to be a few mm lower (TO35C). Not sure if this is still going to allow clearance of the bolt handle tho. Even if they worked I still think I would need the comb higher for consistent eye alignment. . Is there any sort of comb raiser that you guys would recommend on this rifle? Have been looking at the Beartooth raisers. I know there is always the option of gaffa taping some foam on there but would like it to look half decent

fenboy
The beartooth kits are good , I have one on my shotgun they also come in different colors so they are not too obtrusive
HDAV
Why not fit a proper adjustable comb? Like the graco?
Gee.
Cheers guys, I guess I was using 'incorrect search terms' on google as I kept getting directed to cheap Chinese 'fleeabay' stuff. Will try one of those 'Blackhawk' bags as they look good for the money. Would love a proper adjustable stock fitted, will enquire about that with some smiths for a future upgrade. Thanx again fellas! Gordon R
The Graco type mechanisms are on E*ay at the moment for £25.
Gee.
Yeah seen them on there. Wouldn't be something I would do myself so I will have to get some advice on that one, to see if its even possible with my stock. Had adjustable combs on shotguns but this is my first rimmy so still new to it. Never had this problem with air rifles but the tend to have a raised comb to accommodate scopes unlike rimfires. kent
I doubt your issue is actually in the area you mention if your on std mounts to suit the 44mm objective. Look to the butt you might need an adjustable butt pad to suit your shoulder drop. The thumbhole is actually quite a high stock in this area, though its hard to say without seeing how things have gone together and how you are mounting / holding it
PAV331
Hi Gee. I'd be interested to see what you come up with as I've just brought a CZ455 thumbhole. I went for the MTC Viper 5-24 X56 and am having the same issue, need to raise the comb by about 10-15mm and would like to keep the good looks of the stock, as you said the thumb hole causes issues for many of the 'wrap-a-round' kits. I'll let you know if i find anything suitable.
Gee.
Hi Kent, the stock is defo too low for me to get consistent eye alignment mate, Im sort of using a dodgey 'chin weld' at the moment lol. I have a thin face too.... even after the Christmas over indulgence. I have ordered one of those Blackhawk jobbies to try for now.
Gee.
UPDATE. Got my Blackhawk comb raiser today and it fitted fine and looks tidy. Slight problem in that it was now making my eye sit a little too high. No major problem tho as picked away some of the stitching enough to allow me to remove the foam insert, sliced of the required amount of foam, sowed it back up and refitted it and its now spot on, perfect eye alignment every time. PAV331
Thanks for the update Gee. Not sure what I'm gonna do yet. I saw a thread on another forum were I guy moulded his own using this silicon putty stuff and then attached it to the stock with velcro so it could be removed to get the bolt out. I'll put a post up if I end up giving it a go. https://sugru.com/
