ayano3
BigMatt is one real nice guy who has done hours and hours out on the Wash and done lots of homework and will make a good Wildfowler in time. This is his first season of shooting of shotgun shooting, he has progressed from a air rifle to shotgun and joined the ranks of Wildfowlers last September. He has tried his hardest to get a bird, he has remained patient at all times and has had shots but to date is bag has remained clean (on the inside). So today I took him roost shooting pigeons to get him some shooting and better chances than he will get on the marsh and after several shots he actually see his gun take out a few birds...we swapped guns a while as he had a slight problem with his auto and I proved its not the gun. (he begged me not to put this on the forum ). But....wait for it guys..once I had passed it back he shot his first bird on the wing, the first pop scared the life out of it but the second shot the bird dropped to the ground. I didnt send my dog Rhia for this bird, I let him go off with his dog and find his own bird. So its a big congratulations to him for being patient and not giving up like some may have done. He also has 150+ acres of good pigeon land to shoot as I decided to share one of my places (after speaking to the farmer) with him. Now you can shoot on the marsh with far more confidence mate PS. I know this is a wildfowling section and not pigeons but Matt is a WILDFOWLER through and through and I am sure you have all read his snippets and bits he has posted in here. I'll be in elderkins with the auto as soon as they open tomorrow to see if they can sort it! Ps, Hope you are enjoying the sloe gin Graham! Good girl matt, hopefully one day you'll be as good as me. Unfortunally i've not had any flag poles or weather vanes for the geese to fly into like you seem to find If you're down sunday bring the 10 bore this time! Most of the time it'll eject the cartridge, but the bolt stays back and doesnt load the next cartridge. Every 4/5 cartridges it'll work fine! I bought it from them 3 months ago and it'd been working fine till last weekend! If they havent got time to look at it i'll just have to pick up a box of bismuth for the side by side
fenboy
Sure they will sort it if you got it from them , they are very good to deal with as a rule., has it got a magazine cut off ? sound like it could be that .
Big Mat
The cartridge gets pushed from the mag ready to go into the chamber, but the bolt doesnt go forward so the loading ramp doesnt push the cartridge up. I hope its just something simple and the can fix it in about 5 seconds
fenboy
Doubt its anything major, thats the only trouble with autos , had my beretta for about 3 years with just one or two jams , then in the middle of my best roost shoot of the season it decided to jam every shot ! god knows why , hence it being at elderkins too ! Big Mat
What gun is it ? Remington 11-87 I've cleaned it but seen as its under a 2 year warranty i'm not going to mess about with it, rather leave it to the professionals!
kent
sounds an easy fix, my bet is dried mud. 90% of wildfowlers auto issues are due to this, proper maintenance and care is the cure
mpk
Dry mud, slight rust around the bolt (sea air) or just really gunked up maybe. A good clean may sort it out.
Big Mat
Unfortunally its more serious than mud! It miss fired when they test fired it and still wouldnt load a new cartridge! So its in their workshop being looked at and having some parts replaced! On the plus side they loaned me another one!
fenboy
well I have just picked mine up this morning from them and I must say I am not impressed , despite me telling them in detail what the issues were with it all they have done is service it . Hopefully they are right and I am wrong but I dont think that a service is going to cure the problem , I will find out tomorrow when i am shooting . Also the gas piston is covered in carbon and is dirtier than when it went in ! cost for this service £

A full clean of the gas piston is very much part of servicing such a gun OR did you pay for a specific fault fixing which they did? if so why complian they only serviced it? If I booked a car in specifically for an oil change I shouldn't expect them to check my brakes and vice versa Edited January 12, 2013 by kent

If I booked a car in specifically for an oil change I shouldn't expect them to check my brakes and vice versa I asked them to fix a particular issue regarding loading jams , something the gun had never suffered before , the invoice says service , thats all. If they have fixed the problem by giving the gun a service then fair enough I wont know until I shoot it tomorrow , however the gun is completely stripped and cleaned each time I use it so I really cant see why a service / clean will fix it. On closer inspection the gas piston in the gun is not the piston that it went into the shop with , the gun had the new piston from the ulrika 2 which is suppose to be more self cleaning but has come back with one from a ulrika 1 and in a dirty state . At the end of the day I dont care as long as the gun is now working , if its not then it will be going back and I will make my complaint.
