Essex Keeper Posted January 25, 2013 Author Report Share Posted January 25, 2013 UPDATE: Dunmow schoolboy says 'gunman followed him home' Written bySinead Holland PARENTS in Dunmow are petrified this evening (Thursday, January 24) after reports that a pupil at Helena Romanes School in Parsonage Downs was followed home by a man with a gun. Witnesses claim that despite a search by the Essex Police helicopter, the suspect was not detected and families are now fearful as their youngsters prepare for lessons tomorrow. One report described the gunman as "a skinny man in a balaclava and tracksuit". This morning (Friday, Janaury 25) Essex Police confiirmed: "Officers are investigating reports of a man seen with what has been described as a gun in the waistband of his trousers while in the area of Poplars in Dunmow yesterday afternoon, Thursday, January 24. "There have been no reports of the weapon being brandished or used. "An armed search of the area was carried out following a report at 3.50pm. A search was also completed by a police helicopter. "The man in question is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, aged approximately 15, of skinny build, wearing a grey tracksuit with his face partially covered with a scarf." "Police are aware of residents concerns in the area and have increase high visibility patrols." Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Dunmow on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
