New Permissions but not sure about clearance - can anyone help?

I've been asked by two local farmers / small holders to help with rabbit problems over the last couple of weeks.

When I've asked whether their land is cleared for .22LR, one of them said yes, and one didn't know what I meant!

Is the onus on me to ensure that land is cleared, before shooting if the farmer has told me it is?

With the farmer who didn't know what I meant, how would I find out whether the land has clearance?

I suppose one answer would be for me to get an open ticket. Currently my FAC isn't open. Is this a cumbersome process or is it simply a variation on my FAC?

Cheers

Yes it is down to you. Getting an open ticket has so many variables in it. How long have you had your ticket? how many permissions do you have?

A friend of myne got his license opened after only a couple months

He had sgc for 5years, never shot rifle before. Applied for 22lr with just 2 permissions totaling about 450acres

Give the local RFD a call mate and they will tell you what the land has been cleared for, if it hasn't been cleared it will be down to you to get the RFD along to see the land & deem what calibre he will clear it for.

Experiance round here is they don't like .22 rimfire because of richochets.

Getting your ticket open, you will need to show alot of ammo going through on your ticket, lots of land available to you, a letter from a land owner saying he has known you for a while and feels you are safe and responsible, will help.

Good luck

Failing that we can get out with the ferts :good:

Yep, the ferts are no problem. I was ferreting around there today but not on the farm itself. Loads of evidence, so pretty sure the farmer is right when saying that the place is over run! Probably don't shoot enough for the open ticket option, so I'll call the FEO as suggested. See you Thursday?

he is lucky then...I have over 10k+ arces and still cant get it open or even a 243 on it

The only thing he's lucky about is living in North Yorks. It's common there for people to have an unrestricted certificate on first application. Mate of mine was even persuaded to have a .243 when he applied (just in case he wanted to shoot deer).
