In a wild situation mallard are the only ducks likely to use them though in captivity many species will use artifical nest sites. Even mallard can give very mixed results. Once a few females start to use them then it usually starts to snowball and within a few years a lot of female mallard will nest in nesting tubes , but it can take a number of years before this happens.
