captainsensible
Recently obtained a new permission for rats and ferals at a grain store. Although very fond of my HW 97 KT stainless, it was just too heavy to carry around (and climb) on this site. A visit to The Airgun Centre at Rayleigh ( where all my guns come from) to look at some alternatives and my love for the HW was quickly transferred to a walnut stocked BSA Lightning SE. They gave me a decent part-ex price (thanks Steve) and I decided on a Hawke Airmax EV scope to set it off ( the HW scope was replacing a defunct one on another rifle). Work commitments mean I can't get out to sight it in properly until Tuesday.... Can't wait.
turbo33
I was in a gun shop a while ago and the owner had just taken delivery of the GRT SE. We had a play with it for 10 mins and I have to say I thought it was a cracking bit of kit!! Not to be underestimated I think!! Have fun with yours :good:
fenboy
I would hope they did give you a good trade in , at the end of the day you chopped a £400 gun in for a £250 one !.
captainsensible
Can you let me know the dealer selling a walnut stocked lightning xl for £250 I might get one as a spare/investment :-)
fenboy
Sorry I stand corrected , I missed the part about it being walnut. I must admit they look very nice but having had a lightning and currently having a wood stocked 97kt , there is no doubt which is the better gun , granted the 97 is heavy and personally if I wanted something lighter I would have a 95k But at the end of the day as long as you are happy with it thats all that matters. NIGHT SEARCHER
I Would have stuck with the HW 97 KT and never have parted with it. Could have got a second hand lightning of GUNSTAR and kept the 97. No Comparison in quality. Fixed barrel against break barrel no contest. captainsensible
Cheers fenboy, sorry if that came across as too sarcastic. I did mean it tongue in cheek.
Dekers
You bought what you wanted, don't we all , the HW are all too heavy in my estimation but they are good guns , the Lightning is a starter rifle, putting an expensive tree under it doesn't change that ! ATB!
fenboy
Cheers fenboy, sorry if that came across as too sarcastic. I did mean it tongue in cheek. Not at all , my mistake , like I said as long as your happy with it thats all that counts.
