I'm thinking of selling my l reg 200tdi discovery with 6 month t&t with light bar, cage, bull bars and a few extras including alloys. But looking around the various sales outlets they seem to range from a few hundred quid to one guy wanting 2 grand for one only a year newer and not in brilliant shape so what do you people think a fair piece would be?

Cheers

A mate of mine as just sold his L reg Disco that had new sills and boot floor.

It was in tidy con with 12 months mot after a lot of tyre kickers he sold it for £450.

There`s loads of R and S reg Disco`s on Auto trader for £800 £900.

There dose seem to be a lot of cheap Disco`s at the moment i have no idea why.

Perhaps its just that there`s so many for sale and winter is over that`s affecting the prices.

The problem you have is most are rotten so bought as toys to play in mud or for donor engines. Your best option may be to remove the goodies and sell them separately. Sadly though they are usually worth more in bits. Try a decent advert lots of pictures and see how it goes,

Not as simple as some people would have you believe you see them for sale at quite high prices but do they ever sell them on the other hand you see them going for next to nothing that makes me think there must be something wrong with it rust or other problems in the end you can only put it up for what you think that it is worth and if it dose not sell you can always drop the price look on the bay and see what they go for in the end.

Break it for spares. £300 for engine or the sell with the rad and bits for £450 so someone use it for a conversion on a series. £200 for gearbox, £100 for transfare box. £90 per axle. £20 per prop. Then you have got the other bits and pieces like windows, motors, and eletricals that all together will make you between £200 and £400. Plus around £100 for the shell and chassis as scrap

Your looking at least a grand to break and its loads of fun. I made £1400 on a disco and that was with under cutting everyone prices for the parts on eBay

LT77 isn't worth £200……….transfer box is an LT230 so £100 is about right for a good one

£375 all in I'd say for engine with rad and ancillaries if its got high mileage 170k plus , £450 if about 120k I reckon

Doors and windows maybe about £100 all in, rear wiper motor is a good one to extract though if you sell the door without

Chassis if good can be sold as a rolling one for about £450

If not axles are about £100 a pair as 10 spline diffs, make a good upgrade in a series if you're using a V8 or bigger engine than the 2.25 (works on in 2.25 petrol)

Random body panels are then hit and miss but about £20 for bonnet etc

Oh just to add to LT77, very good on on LZ atm £80 and no one wants it……….

I just picked up a recon AW transmission R380 for £250 and thats a long stick defender V8 spec one with a new bellhousing!
