.philmypower.
I'm considering starting a small ratting club. I have plenty of places to go and plenty of places to ask so that the same spots don't get visited too often. My idea was to get around 10 to 12 members, already got 6 interested . I was thinking of running the club season from now to nov so that it doesn't interfere with the pheasant season lol. I'm thinking of arranging ratting once a month and holding a meeting in the pub with people interested. Not sure what to charge, don't want to make a profit, just cover costs so may be around 20 quid a member. For this they would get me arranging a days ratting once a month, smokers and fuel and a great day out. Want to have a little money left over in the club pot incase expenses occurred that we weren't planning. What are your thoughts, is it a daft idea? Would I need insurance? All ideas appreciated Thanks
figgy
Hope it gets off the ground sounds great.Love the ratting articles in the shooting mags, especially when the kids are up to there elbows in it with their dogs and Dads £20.00 isn't a lot I think most terrier men would pay it for a good ratting season. Insurance wise just make sure all members have their own. Figgy

.philmypower.
We have plenty of places to go at rob, but I understand what your saying. May be 8 members would be a better number. It's just say I get 12 people wanting to join, I very much doubt all 12 will turn up each outing. All ideas appreciated Thanks Just my opinion but I would make it compulsory for members to be in BASC you would then be covered for all lawful pursuits those that are already in BASC would be able to claim one back. I would have a chairman, vice, secretary and treasurer and minutes taken at the meetings. Don't forget the Health and Safety and risk assessments because if the poop hits the fan you as the leader will be up the creek without a paddle. Good idea though but do it correctly otherwise you may regret suggesting it. Regards Hcc Just my opinion though.

Appreciate the feedback, was already thinking of making sure members have own insurance. Never considered a risk assessment though
harrycatcat1
Appreciate the feedback, was already thinking of making sure members have own insurance. Never considered a risk assessment though You need the insurance if you are taking folks on others land in my opinion. If anything goes wrong someone is going to say "what steps did you take to try and prevent this happening as you are the person that organised all this" Just trying to help mate thats all, same as I say its a good idea but you need to put some thought into it. If you are serious I can email/pm you some of the stuff that you can adapt or just to give you an idea. Regards Hcc
