gazbev
Had a good day yesterday on the rape, the pigeons are still moving around in flocks mostly here but they are starting to break up. Only got twelve for 2.5 hours shooting but not bad seeing as I only went to have a look and threw a handfulll of deeks out and stuck myself in a hedge. Things are looking up! Outlander
Absolute cack around here, lots of birds in massive flocks. One bang and you dont see another bird all day. I think my best day this year has been 9 that was in the first 5hrs after that It slowed up a bit!.
gazbev
As decoy1 says if the wind picks up they tend to drop in more, I have got some time off the end of the month so I will be out on the windy days, never know what you are going to get is part of the appeal for me I helped someone shoot some pigeons a few years ago I shot 6 cartridges on the Saturday I was dreading going back on the Sunday because I thought it would be the same and ran out of cartridges....same hide, same place. fielddweller
I was out yesterday on drillings and noticed the big flocks are starting to break up Most of the birds had crops full of corn and OSR.Just do with some wind, been flat calm of ages. lakeside1000
We spent yesterday from 8.00 until 12.30 on a 40 acre field of rape, it was blue with birds when we arrived but they all cleared off, 4 of us got 3 pigeons between us, talk about slow, it was bright'ish, cold and almost no wind, we could see them in the distance moving about but they never came back to our field. my personal tally was 3 shots for 1 bird and that took both barrels to kill. I think they are starting to move off the rape onto fresh plough and drillings, there is just too much choice for them, never mind there is always next week, can but hope for a decent bag.
