Er Mr moderator I only expressed a thought & was met by some very defensive vibes, I have no view on anyone displaying piccys on this site, I was only making an ob that sometimes things aren't always what they seem, perhaps if I got all the pigeons I've shot over the last month out of my freezer & posted a piccy I would receive approval...... That wasn't aimed at anybody but I'll get some defensive posts anyway..

northern monkey, can i just ask why you feel it right to throw a spanner in the works, there are some great people on this forum ,, also some idiots but that happens everywhere, can i just ask why you think myself and others should take newbies out on our land that we shoot just to satisfy yourself,on reading your previous posts it is coming across that you are the arguementative type, why do you feel the need to try and wind people up,,please dont take offence but that is exactly how you are coming across,,

i have spent years getting the land i shoot on through hard work and putting the hours in knocking on doors etc but why do you think we should take newbee,s out shooting with us on the land we shoot,,sorry but it doesn,t work like that in my book

firstly i like to get to know the person i,m taking shooting and how safe they are, yes i do take people out shooting and no i dont exaggerate, why would myself and others on here want to cheat ourselves ,,cant work your thoughts there out

if people want to put pics on here then why not , dont agree that they should spend less time taking pictures and more time taking newbee,s out,,why should they,,shooting ,just like respect has to be earnt and i know you havn,t been a member long but think its a bit silly to start trying to wind forum members up,,

immature IMO and i cant see the need for it, but hey if its what tickles your fancy then crack on, but as you said you have been fishing and shooting for years,,sounds a little exaggerated to me .

anyway enjoy the forum for however long you wish to stay but feeling the water is not a good way of making lasting friendships on here,,just my opinion mind

NM -not really sure what your aim was in starting this thread? I've been on this site for a while now and one of the great things about it is the joking that goes on. On the other hand though, there has been some really good advice given by others for those who aren't quite sure about some things or the way to go about them. Usually skipping 0ver into one of the other forum pages can help find the answers you are lookiing for. I see this site as something that is there for us all to use and it is like any other sport: folks can and do tend to exagerate at times but it is not meant to harm anyone it is just life. For example, the time I explained how I shot a lion whilst having a ride on the back of a rogue elephant in Finsbury park; not many on here believed for one minute I'd managed that shot with a .177 air pistol - and I really didn't expect them to either, because - everyone knows you can't do that with a .177. It takes at least a .22 to get through that Mane.

If I can offer any advice it is this - Chill friend, enjoy the site and the characters on here. Take a look back through the archives and find the thread about the covered wartime base one of our members was lucky enough to come upon - it makes fascinating reading and gives a good laugh as well. :yahoo:

All the best and enjoy your sport :good:

I don't think it really matters, You shoot one bird/Rabbit or you get 100 in your bag.

As long as your out there in the fresh air enjoying yourself who cares, Its getting out and being out.

You can have just a good time out and about with a mate and a flask of coffee and not even get one shot off.

Same as a bit of target work in the Garden. Some of the good times Iv had, An afternoon In the garden with some paper targets and a few old can's. A mate and many mugs of coffee.

If you say your better than you am. If you tell people your bags are bigger than they really are. Then the only person your cheating is yourself.

Don't get me wrong

Don't get me wrong but, I didn't come on here to expose anyone, but if the hotshot big bag shooters spent as much time inviting novices to spend a day with them to learn some fieldcraft, as they did posting pics, not a pop just a thought, look at the posts...

But why should they ??? they are perfectly entitled to shoot with who they please , most folk have there own shooting buddys who they share shooting and permissions with .

Some people are happy taking people out , some are not so why should we judge them .

Its ok teaching people field craft etc but the real fact is that there are perhaps a large number of people who will never shoot a big bag for the simple reason they are not a good enough shot .

I have shot with a number of people over the years who have had the opportunity but were simply not good enough.

Lets take my best mate for instance he works hard and only gets to shoot say 5-6 times a year , he really enjoys his shooting but is a terrible shot and when out with me normally averages around 14 shots per bird which means he will need a day that offers him 1400 ish shots to get that 100 bag and lets be honest its not going to happen.

I consider myself a reasonable shot and would be fairly confident that 200 shots would give me 100+ on a good day , much more likely to happen .

The really good shots may need 150 shots for 100 so even more likely they will have a number of good bags .

And that is why some shoot lots of good bags and others don,t yes field craft helps , yes you need the birds using the field but ultimately you need to shoot straight !!!!!!

That's the colour of the wine I'm drinking that has made me rubbish at spelling

Great a bit of honesty, I've been involved & a big supporter of field sports all my life, saw this site & also saw a lot of ego's, put a cheeky little post on and the best I got was, pulled up on decimal points, you've got the casting vote, should I bin it... Stay or **** off?

Sorry for the late response, the wine was flowing a little to freely.

Stay or go is your choice mate, but this forum has people from every walk of life and that's what makes it so interesting,it is the same as any other gathering of people, sometimes you are going to have your leg pulled or your spelling questioned,so what,it's only a forum don't take it to heart and you will be fine.

As to the photo thing,it is like anything else,if you lie through your teeth to people you will be caught out and exposed, some of the shooters on here have access to land with thousands of pigeons on it,and they have obtained this land through their skill at shooting and their reputation, which leads me on to why should they invite people onto land they shoot on,I personally have only shot my land with a long standing shooting partner, and for the last few years he has been abroad so shoot by myself,I have taken out a member on here(taxi driver) when he was on holiday here, and I have given an invite to another member, these got invites because I knew them through this forum, could see what they posted, and they were around my age so we had some things in common.

I wish I hadn't been drinking when I started this thread, it made me rubbish at thinking.... :)

Drink and a keyboard, always fun. Don't worry there have been a lot worse, and no doubt there will be worse to come from someone else.

Welcome to the madhouse, looks like you will fit right in.

I don't take anything seriously, that's my problem & have the uncanny knack of offending people by making light of things they are passionate about, that's why I'm best suited to solitary pursuit's. Anyway I had a load of big burly lads waiting outside my house this morning, came round to box my lugs for being cheeky on PW last night, sent me nanna out with a bucket of water.. That got rid of them...

I suspect the comment about the decimal was a light hearted one, made in much the same spirit as when you pulled a member up on their spelling a couple of posts later. There was certainly no need to call brian28 a geek for it.

There is no point in highlighting what you perceive to be other people's egos and then throwing a track because someone dared make a joke on your thread - a pretty egotistical line to take in itself. Stay by all means, but a thick skin and not taking yourself too seriously are keys to taking part in forums such as this.

The post to brian 28 was also meant to be light hearted, my comments were not intended to be personal, unlike comments towards me questioning my credibility, the thread was intended to provoke discussion, Some years ago a local guy who was respected & a bit of a face in the Angling scene was exposed for being not quite legit.

Sounds like you've wound yourself up, the thread was not intended to put into question the credibility of PW or any of its members, it was more loaded towards the angling fraternity if anything & so far as showing novices the ropes, it was only an opinion, but as Clint Eastwood once said "opinions are like *********, everybody has got one".
