fieldmaster
Hello, I recently purchased a Nikko Gameking 6x24 x 50 Mill Dot, I couldnt decide if I really needed a 24 x scope I thought a cheapish approach would be the best plan before I make the next step for a better scope. Having shot at targets at 130 yards, 1 inch groups are very easy with .17hmr. (with wind). That said the optics on this scope are poor beyond belief, the top image and lower image are constantly foggy/milky, and this gets progressively worse at higher magnifications, when sighting up the target its near impossible to find any head position which will allow any clear view across the lens, the only clarity is the centre. Having purchased a Mounmaster for my air rifle, the optics on this scope are many more times clearer with no foggy images even at the top end. Anyone else had this experience?, Now looking into a MTC and or Redfield??
tweedledee
Buy a red field.made in same factory as leupold and it won't milk out

Gimlet
Nikko Gameking are utter ****. If you really must go that cheap buy a Hawke. Better still for the same money buy a decent scope second hand. I don't think the low light performance of Redfield is very good, but they'll be miles better than a Gameking. They may be owned by the same company but Leupold and Redfield are not built to the same spec. Leupold are the better scopes both optically and in build quality and there are some very good S/H buys to be had. Keep to 12 X mag maximum with an HMR. Its more than enough for any target to 150 yds.
the enigma
I used to have a Nikko Airking 4-12 x 42 and it was the same on full mag. Worst £90 odd I've ever spent. As above, don't be afraid to go for a secondhand scope, there are reasonable quality scopes out there for not much more than you paid for your Gameking.
