Bullets and Brass

Just for info:

I've had a chatty chit from Midway reference an order. It seems that our American friends are in panic mode big time and the Midway staff over there cannot give their UK colleagues any idea when the orders for the Subject items will be met. This means that whatever stock is already in the UK, when depleted, may not be immediately replaced.

I have known Midway Uk for many years now and there is nothing new about that in my experience. :good:

The current stock/supply situation in the US is horrendous.

We were just thinking about having another trip over and went to fill our shopping lists at the usual suppliers, absolutely nothing available in the way of the .30 or .224 bullets we usually buy and all are showing no backorder available :(

No doubt things there will eventually get back to normal but it's not going to be the UK that gets priority when manufacturing catches up with the current demand.

No, we're such a small insignificant market-place we'll be at the rear end of the also rans. Pretty sure there's a moral there somewhere.

As Phaedra says, it's horrendous. Apparently at the Shot show in January Hornady said that if the UK importer placed an ammo order with them at the show it might arrive this year!!!

Cabellas apparently took three years worth of orders for AR15 mags in three hours a few weeks back.

Of course the knock-on effect is that even the stuff that the US government aren't trying to clamp down is drying up because the manufacturers are busy making things like semi-auto rifles and big magazines and the like so aren't making a lot of much else.

To be honest, I think that the sooner that Europe (especialy us) can ween themselves off the American gear the better. Pretty much everything we are allowed to own is made elsewhere and usually to a far better standard for the money we pay these days.
