Daveo26
Whats the best way, drop the transfer box off first before removing the box? I havent got a transmission jack so it will be me and my mate and a trolley jack!!! Is there anything to watch out for? Cheers Dave
Lord Geordie
There was an article on here a good while back when some chap had to replace the main shaft oil seal "IIRC". Can't find it now but the OP may find this and help you out
neil82
drop the box out complete, pig part of this job is removing the crossmember, the torsion springs are mounted to it, measure the ammount of thread showing above the adjuster to make refitting a bit easier, have fun, i do this for a living and there is no way i would do it without a ramp and a transmission jack
scutt
not worked on these but if you'v got an engine crane have a look and you may be able to take the weight of the box thru the gear lever hole in the tunnel done this with a few 4x4 boxes when i was working on them alone + if torsion bar suspension it always pays to mark the position of the splines and measure the ride height of the vehicle before you start. bennyblanco
I did mine and took it out complete, it is very heavy! As said above there is no way I would do it without a ramp and transmission jack, good luck
