its not hard mate just put paper work in buy a cheap safe argos do 30 quid things just bolt too wall that will do for bullets or you can buy a proper rifle safe few quid more like it take about 12 weeks they will come to your house for a little chat nothing heavy back stops, roads, lay of land what experience you have had now a days they ask if you had any training with a mate other than that its a doddle mate if your land passes of course

good luck

I put my papers in 2 weeks ago and I've got my visit next week, make sure your forms are correct and get your farmer to fill in a permissions form

Good luck

"2 weeks ago", I put a variation in 4 weeks ago, and heard nowt straight forward 1 4 1 also to a less calibre , least it saves me money on ammo...good on you all at s.yorks (don't work too hard),, more life in a tramps vest ...

Storage at home 200 ammo ?

it's cheaper to buy the ammunition in 500's and yout FEO will probably know and accept that mate so you'd be best putting buy 500 and hold maybe a couple hundred more. It would be perfectly acceptable for a 1st grant.

I reckon my fire service background may have helped we've already had some police v fire brigade banter when he phoned me.

Plus I the met police probably don't have many FAC applications compared to bumpkin police

that will not have anything to do with application you get a fac if you have bin good boy, have correct land, and a need for a rifle ie shooting foxes or deer control simple as that fella i had a mate who had done 15 years in army firing every thing from 5.56 too .50 cal and they said it never matted 1 bit

I'm not implying for one minute that my fire service background matters a jot when it comes to an FAC application, I merely responded to delburts post regarding how quick I'm getting my visit from time of application, I just speculated that my former career may have moved things along a bit,I know it did for my SGC renewal because the FAO said "I moved you up the pile".

Put in for a couple of rifles on the basis of Bolt and semi, plus a mod for each. As you have a good amount of land why not put in for a 177HMR & a 223, both with mods, they can only say no.

Ammo I asked for 1100 to keep 1000 to purchase for both solid and expanding. Dont ask for a 1000 on price but because you will use it. Had my ticket 8 weeks and have already got through 700 rds of 22.

Lucky you :). Mine sat at the bottom of the pile for a while 4 months from application to certificate being issued. Good luck

For some bizzare reason the HO guidance says that economy shouldn't be used as a reason to hold large quanitities of ammo - not that 500 is particularly large. Buying in bulk so that you are able to get ammo from the same production lot is apparently acceptable though. Also, at the moment a very good reason for holding lots of ammo is because of supply problems, especially relating to anything coming from the USA.
