Dominicrobed
Hello I'm going to apply for my FAC .22 LR for some bunny shooting. I have a good amount of land I can shoot on. Just after any advice people can give me and what to expect ? Do I fit the ammo safe before I hear from my FAO or wait until iv heard from him ? Just want to get it all right and not slip up on anything :-S
swiss.tony
its not hard mate just put paper work in buy a cheap safe argos do 30 quid things just bolt too wall that will do for bullets or you can buy a proper rifle safe few quid more like it take about 12 weeks they will come to your house for a little chat nothing heavy back stops, roads, lay of land what experience you have had now a days they ask if you had any training with a mate other than that its a doddle mate if your land passes of course good luck Edited March 5, 2013 by swiss.tony
CharlieT
Fit it now. As long as you are of good character and can demonstrate good reason it is your right to be granted a FAC.
thepasty
but if you have any skeletons it might be worth hanging on until its granted then they can come check the security and hand over your FAC.

Jonty
Cheers guys. You have to put down what you want so could I put .22 LR Moderator Storage at home 200 ammo ? it's cheaper to buy the ammunition in 500's and yout FEO will probably know and accept that mate so you'd be best putting buy 500 and hold maybe a couple hundred more. It would be perfectly acceptable for a 1st grant.

Rogc
Cheers guys. You have to put down what you want so could I put .22 LR Moderator Storage at home 200 ammo ? Put in for a couple of rifles on the basis of Bolt and semi, plus a mod for each. As you have a good amount of land why not put in for a 177HMR & a 223, both with mods, they can only say no. Ammo I asked for 1100 to keep 1000 to purchase for both solid and expanding. Dont ask for a 1000 on price but because you will use it. Had my ticket 8 weeks and have already got through 700 rds of 22.

It would be perfectly acceptable for a 1st grant. For some bizzare reason the HO guidance says that economy shouldn't be used as a reason to hold large quanitities of ammo - not that 500 is particularly large. Buying in bulk so that you are able to get ammo from the same production lot is apparently acceptable though. Also, at the moment a very good reason for holding lots of ammo is because of supply problems, especially relating to anything coming from the USA. J.
