Pigeon Shooting in Cumbria

As a Cumbrian living in The Fens it is always nice to go back home and visit family and see some hills.

I had a few hours on some family owned land yesterday and was able to loan a gun off a PW Member (kev i)

He told me not to shoot anything above 28grm as he was unsure of how safe it was with anything above.

It was a great sxs and fit me well, we shot a small wood for about 3 hours and saw large flocks flying about all day.

I shot 18 and 2 crows (could have had 50 crows) we saw duck flying past all day and in the field next to us we could here geese.

Big Kev shot 22 and 1 crow with his Hatsan, all birds were very skinny and not in good condition unlike Fenland birds

I like the flash eyes on the dog!

Thanks Fenboy, I think I am getting better shooting than you lads on the Fens by all accounts?

I was hoping things had picked up, I could do with a days shooting on Sunday when I'm back......I NEED a SXS?

I shot very well with it, never used one for years....but loved it.

Didn't take the beloved Ithaca with you then?

Sorry to say I never, I am moving about so no gun cabinets at times.

I was going shooting this morning, now in North East....opened the curtains and it looks like Christmas day with snow laying.

I have said I will take the wife shopping to The Metro Center instead.....so at least she's happy

Look like u had a good day. :good: Nice looking lab aswell well done :good:

He was not used to pigeon but did a great job, found out he does not like crows he had been pecked when he was a pup and is very unsure if they are still alive. Only a young dog put like most Labs full of promise...this is Jet below.

Good luck tonight Fenny, I managed to get two permissions while in Cumbria so I now have some shooting grounds up here now.

It will be handy for some inland shooting come september, we will have to sort a trip out.

Give my regards to those out on the roost.
