Sorry maye but drunk or sober you really should have used "whatever force necessary" to restrain him while the police were called there and then, and if that required a good heavy kick in the nuts to stop this cramk from running of while you waited for the police arrived then so be it! The fact that he calmed down afterwards is irrelevent. What if that had been a woman, a pensioner or a youngster? All to often we hear about women, youths, children and pensioners being attacked and hospitalised with no provocation. I do not see having far too much drink as any sort of excuse for this type of behaviour

I too, just like you, prefer to try to avoid confrontations but there are limits - And a situation like the one you have described is well beyond those limits, people like that need locking away from society!

And the final sentence says it all - I will bet this is yet another case of "care in the community" which should be "we don't care dump them in the community" . I am with you Frenchie he wouldn't be going anywhere till I had the plod present. Drunks get aggressive but they don't make up wacky stuff like that sounds like mental illness. The answer to this is simple prosecute those who authorise release such people from care if anything happens

What a bizarre incident. Glad the dog and you are okay.

He would have had the shock of his life had he tried to or indeed grabbed my border collie if he didn't know him.....I wouldn't have had to raise a finger. My collie is a bit keen and very protective.

+1 same here my BC is the same, extremely friendly but also extremely protective! ( bloody useless gun dog though! )

if he had tried to hurt my dog he would have tripped over broken his nose (accidents happen) of course as i help him up from his accident he may fall and split his head open, oh damn cant get a signal to call a ambulance. oh well thats life. i may struggle to shake his hand if its half way up his back helping him get to his feet of course :whistling:
