superspark
Hi All, Yesturday I asked a question about how I could go about crow/rook shooting from my hide with only full bodied pigeons. Some kind chap " sorry can't remember who you are ,ive tried to find the post but without any luck" said just simply pull black socks over them. Ive tried this today with deadly effect, they looked very real and most of the time as they were comming in couldn't reload in time. Several rooks flew in and landed right next to my decoys right behind them. I couldn't shoot them at that point as my decoys would of taken the full load. Anyway as the day went on and I added the freeshly shot birds to the pattern they kept on comming, what a fantastic day. Ive saved a bag full in the freezer for my next outing on wednesday. If you only have pigeon full bodied decoys and you want to shoot crow/rooks and jackdors just cover your pigeons with your old black socks and pull them tight, I was amazed just how deadly they turned out to be Think this was a top tip thanks to this forum cheers Darren. superspark
The second day went well too, its amazing that they decoyed to black sock covered pigeon. Had a couple land right next to one of my decoys and seemed very happy to be there until I shot it. I had to scare it first or would of shot holes in one of my decoys lol. Im just waiting now for a farmer I know to seed one of his fileds with maze, hes going to call me when he does so I will be right round, should be some good shooting.
