reggiegun
Been on farm today, only 100/150 acres, it has a big valley, i sat at the top looking down and saw 5 roe deer over about 3 hours. Would this pass a police check for 243 if the valley was the only safe place to shoot? Reggiegun
Redgum
If its safe to shoot then yes it should, you could also tell your FEO that you intend to install highseats for extra safety.
kent
there is little unsafe about shooting into a valley bottom as long as you can see the background to the shot, all land has unsafe areas and as long as you aware of them and decline any shots in those areas all will been fine! As for the FEO - depends on which way the wind is blowing most are non shooters in my experiance
Frenchieboy
In theory any land that shows sufficient safe backstops should be passes as safe as long as you can recognise any "Unsafe" areas and make your FEO aware that you know where the safe and unsafe areas are and that there are no public footpahts that cross the land. With it being a valley I could see no problems (On the strength of what you have told us) Having said that much will still depend on your FEO. Good luck with it. Dekers
If its safe to shoot then yes it should, you could also tell your FEO that you intend to install highseats for extra safety. If its safe its safe (whatever that may mean), if it is only safe with High Seats then he may end up with that as a condition. Say nothing about High Seats unless it becomes an issue! reggiegun
The valley is safe, if shooting from the top, nothing in the bottom and the banks on the other side are high. But all around the top is not safe as the fields are flat and go to the roads. As I said the farm is only small. You could only sit on the top of the valley, shooting down for a safe shot. But as I said the deer are there along the bottom. Reggiegun
DaveK
Oh go on then. Someone's got to say it so it might as well be me. Land is neither safe or unsafe.

To a certain extent Dave you are quite right! It isn't the land that is either safe or unsafe it is the man behind the trigger that can make the distinguishing difference between the two!
