lakeside1000
Well we, myself and Beretta28g , spent a few hours in the bitterly cold easterly today, on a field of drilled barley which was in last tuesday and rolled yesterday, a few birds came into the pattern early but they soon thinned out by lunchtime, afternoon was very slow with only one bird every hour or so, we managed 11 between us and 2 crows and a jackdaw just to make up the numbers, still with more seed going in at the end of the week we just need some warmer weather or even just a change of wind direction to improve condition, on the last two outings ive taken a hint from PW members and used my fishing brolly as a wind break, absolutely great idea, made a real difference , just didnt want to go out and pick up, the birds seem to hate the wind as much as I did, those that left the trees seemed to fly really low and kept in behind trees and hedges where the wind was less noticable, roll on summer. JDog
Your fortitude will be rewarded once the easterlies have stopped.

I admire your pereverance, but the wind wouldn't have been the reason the birds stayed away.
