rite lads and ladys

the past few years ive been taking pigeon shooting alot more seriously and have been shooting everything with my little lincoln 20g.

but as im out alot of the time now decoying pigeons im starting to sway to the idea of getting a 12g semi-auto.

i shoot well with my 20g but i hate knocking it about in the hide and the cartridges are expensive. i have no time to do home loads.

its in very good condition and im not sure i want to keep taking it in a hide and having the chance of knocking it about.

i used this to shoot game aswell but one of my good friends has said he would lend me an o/u for the odd pheasant days i do.

i run a diy shoot and have more enjoyment ding that and running the day rather than shooting.

i think in the condition my lincoln is in i could get £600 for it if i sold it, what options of GOOD semi-autos are out that for around that money??

i would want something that would recycle 28g 7.5 all day long.

preferable a all black auto but i wouldnt mind a wooden stock or all camo.

now hears the question, what do i do???

do i do a trade/sale and by for an auto or do i keep the 20g ??

just so unsure at the moment it seems the rite thing to do but just want to know what good semi autos are available for that sort of money and is it worth it.

thanks for reading......

One thing I've learned is that there are certain guns that you keep and certain that are expendable. Ones that you seem to shoot well for some unexplained reason are ones to keep. They must fit and you'll have confidence that you shoot it well, and those are the two main things conducive to good shooting. The other are guns which were given to you by someone special (a dad, uncle, significant other, etc). If someone gifts you a gun, that should be the last gun you get rid of.

If you shoot the lincoln well and like it, then I'd keep it. Save up a little cash on the side until you can buy the semi you want. Beretta 301/02/03 seem to go on here for £300 or just over. Franchi 48 AL's go for similar money. I'd have either one as a hide gun for 2 3/4" cartridges (in fact I do have a franchi). If you find it isn't the gun for you then you're not out anything selling it back off for what you paid for it.

thanks,
rick

I was in exactly the same situation! I had just stopped shooting practical shotgun and bought a really nice Watson Bros 20 bore s/s. Great gun but being light recoiled more than I expected with 28gm loads, so might be a bit tedious for a lot of rounds and in truth just too nice to knock around. I struck lucky in that the man who bought my Saiga 12 wanted to p/x a brand new Armsan 612.

Great basic gun, synthetic stock and fore-end and has so far been totally reliable. Best of all they are cheap so maybe you could keep your Lincoln and get one of these at probably s/h £300 or so or new for just over £400?

Sounds like another Hatsan owner on PW, I don't have one but they are hard to discount at the price.

I got a Franchi Hunter 3 shot auto off Wabbitbosher for £175 just for pigeon this year, great gun

Thanks for the replys, im not in the situation to buy another gun at the moment. I think im gonna bite the bullet and get an auto, im liking the beretta autos like the urika but not sure if i could get one in my budget.
