Trevorevans
Just getting to know a few small local clay shoots in this area myself and finding them very friendly and a lot cheaper than the commercial grounds at £7-10 for 60 clays. There is one on the A48 near Bridgend on Saturday mornings nicknamed evil Bobs. This however is very challenging, I have seen international shooters and AA class shooters blank stands there. One in Merthyr every Sunday 50 clays, good banter here but manual traps. One in Aberkenfig every other Sunday, excellent shoot and helpful if your struggling on targets. One in a quarry in Ewenny every Sunday, not been there yet but am told its basically the same faces as the A48 and Aberkenfig shoots. All of the above are sporting and you will need to be there for 9:45 at latest for the 10am start, they're all pretty strict on that. Contact me via PM if you require directions to any of these. I'm also a member at SW2000 and you can turn up and shoot anytime but it can get busy. Check the web page for what comp if any is on (usually Sundays) if the comp is your chosen discipline you will struggle to shoot. £13 buys 50 clays non-member. Treetops can also get busy and is £14 for 50 clays. As far as I know both do a deal where you shoot 100 and pay for 75, SW2000 on Thursdays and Treetops on Fridays. There's also Crynant shooting ground and Woodland park in Brecon. Not visited either of these but both have web pages. You'll need subsonic carts at Woodland park however they are available to purchase on site. Edited April 13, 2013 by Trevorevans

stevewall968
Welsh wizard I can highly recommend Woodlands Park near Brecon. Lovely little ground, superb friendly owners, great variety and some bloody challenging targets. Not easy to find cos it's out in the sticks, but nevertheless is a ground that is worth making the effort to get to. SW2000 and Treetops also worth a visit as well. James_w12345
There are two near me which I go to, both have their merits. Keepers Lodge, just on the edge of Llanishen (half way between monmouth and chepstow) http://www.keeperslodgeclayshoot.com/ A lovely little family run clay ground, fairly quiet though you often get groups of friends going round, so you can wait a while at a few stands, but everyone is very friendly, and will often offer help (self buttoning and scoring, so go with a friend). cant remember the price (if you are interested, ill keep an eye out next time I go). they also do lessons (or stag dos) by arrangement. Regulars often complain of lack of variety fortnight to fortnight, but I dont go often enough to notice. (very nice rural/farm/woodland walk around). Mork Clay ground (Lydney direction), just outside of monmouthshire, but a nice well set up with a mix of challenging birds and staple presentations. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mork-Clay-Shooting-Club/336445997594 Small but well set up (on the side of a valley) clay ground. they have kids doing traps and scoring so can go by yourself, 50 or 60 birds available as well as a tricky 10 bird pot competition. again I dont know the price but reasonable value, even for non-members. hope this helps with a bit of variety for you.
