Mentalmac
Hi Guys, I have read possibly about 100 different articles on the whole WMR V's HMR debacle However, I need to scrub one off my licence by Monday for my FEO (He said I can have one or other). I have shot a WMR a couple of times, was pretty good fun. Never shot a 17 but seen one shot. I realise the obvious trajectory path differencesandmust say that a 30 grain WMR round seems to be flatter than the 40 (Obvious) and not too far of the HMR... but now heres my question: Will a 30 grain WMR round be more knocked of by wind than an HMR round? I just don't want to spend all my money on something and not be happy :-( any help much appreciated.
Dekers
The .22lr and .22WMR are both effected more by the wind than the HMR. Look it up..... http://www.federalpremium.com/products/rimfire.aspx Tick the ammo you want, then hit the compare box! On the next page hit the wind drift at 10mph arrow! Edit I have 2 x .22lr, .17HMR & .22WMR. I am happy with, and have a use for ALL of them! 2nd Edit Wind drift is a feature of shooting with ANY calibre, you just have to handle it. Underdog
I would not base my decision on wind! It is difficult to judge anyway on the shot and despite which is "better"you will struggle to get it correct. Which gun do you prefere? For me it will always be the one that shoots off hand the best. Hornet 6
Just tell him you need both, hmr for rabbits, wmr for rabbit and fox. Neil.
jamiedenny
I've liked WMtore but only because the rifle I have used / owned fitted me better than any hmr. Clearly nothing to so with calibre choice.
