Northern Gunner
This post related to Northern Gunner at Marne Barracks, sorry forgot to press quote button. Scores at Podimore. ? ? ? I don't think anyone could complain about your targets or your prices Tony. from Auntie. Hi Auntie, Police won the team event with Army a distant second and High Gun was Simon Fenner (Police) with a well shot 88 in very gusty and damp conditions. I managed an 83 which was Amy High Gun and I think 4th overall which wasn't too disappointing with about 130 shooters through and only half a dozen shot 80+. Probabily lost 6 targets to the gusting wind, but not an excuse as it was the same for all that shot. Hopefully the weather will be better next week in South Africa 17 dats of warm weather shooting. Are you at Marne in the morning.
aris
I'm going to Greece next week and there is a ground near the complex we are stopping , can't wait although something tells me I will never moan about a uk ground again. They probably have a line of Greek kids with easy throwers More likely a line of Albanians.

100milesaway
Well shot, Hope to be there on Sunday. from Auntie. shaun4860
It appears to me that this thread has changed from 'Poorly maintained grounds' to 'working within budgets'. I run a ground and don't provide markers for sporting practice but the price we charge reflects the savings on markers wages as we only charge £16 per 100 for our members and they all seem to appriciate the cheaper costs. (they are mostly Yorkshiremen after all) If I have ABT on then a buttoner and marker is provided. You have to sometimes allow a little for practice and mark your own cards in your groups if it keeps your entry costs down and if you want pampering then pay the higher price. That said, I shot at Podimore last week in an Inter-service shoot and paid £30 for 100 and marked our own cards and the traps were a nightmare with breakdowns. (you don't always get what you pay for). Happy shooting to all and lets not forget that we all started at strawbale self trapping and marking shoots so why not still support them!!!! Still do, I help run Widdrington Gun Club (sort of straw bale shoot), yes we have our problems but we try and work round them and keep prices down Its the ones Like the one I mentioned who charge full price and seem to make very little effort regarding customers, I know it takes a huge amount of work and investment (built a very nice clubhouse) to get where they have but they seem to have got a bit lost along the way. Years ago it was a very nice place to shoot, Same management now but as I say, seems to be a bit lost
TrapFiller
We only use pick ups in the weaker traps. That seems to limit the number of no birds. If a battery runs out there is at least one man on the ground at all times so that get sorted quickly. Also a couple of spare traps for when a repair is not possible. HDAV
We only use pick ups in the weaker traps.. Should you be using them at all?
TrapFiller
Should you be using them at all? Never had a problem or complaint from a customer to date with pick up and I try and ask most of them if they have had no birds and on which stands to try and locate a problem if there is one on the ground.
