Re-Zeroing the .243 with "Home loads"!

Recommended Posts

I wanted to get back into using the Home Loads with my .243 for a bit of a Target Shooting Competition in aid of The Air Ambulance that I am organising for our club members. The weather was quite nice this morning so i managed some time up at the quarry and I must admit that it was a real pleasure to be able to shoot in my shirt sleeves without freezing my "little bits" off.

My rifle was zeroed up for Partizan 90g ammunition and these home loads are made using 70g Nosler heads. They are a bit faster and hold a slightly tighter group. They were giving a POI about 3 inches higher than the Partizans at 125 yards but that was just a matter of 10 clicks down on the scope and it was near spot on!

Once the rifle was zeroed I tried one final shot at a 2 inch grease tube end cap (I forgit to take some of the 45mm Chalk Targets that I have so I had to hunt about for something suitable and this white plastic cap was all I could find.) at a good 175 yards and managed to put a hole straight through it so I am happy with my short time out this morning. That can be seen at about 6:15 on the video.

Here's the link to this mornings short video for those that are interested - A bit boring for some but it was fun for me:

good little video pal,i do like hunting etc, but you cant beat a bit of paper punching, its then when you find out out how good you and your rifle realy are.well done...

Thanks Simon. Are you the chap I spoke to a while ago on Bacup Old Road that was out looking for permissions that I gave my card to (I was in the blue Renault Clio)? If you are then there is no reason why you should not join me for some "target shooting" on a few of my permissions - If you would like to. PM me if you are interested!
