aga man
had a nice stroll around one my rabbit permissions tonight with the air rifle. this small piece of grassland always has good numbers of rabbits and every year the owner complains about the numbers of bunnies. i went along this evening to show willing and make a start. i prefer the rabbits a bit bigger to be honest as i get a pound each for them and like to take a couple for the table, but hey ho must keep the owner happy. i didn't have a lot of time tonight but had a quick walk round and very glad i did.walking around the perimeter of the land quietly i saw alsorts of wildlife including a sparrowhawk having a dust bath underneath some conifers which i never seen before and also towards the end of the walk i saw charlie fox also doing a bit of rabbiting. i sat and watched him through the air rifle scope and to be honest if it was an hmr i had in my hand i probably wouldn't have shot him. he can;t do much harm on this land and to see him in full hunting mode was truly amazing. pleased i went for my little stroll. reminds me of how lucky we are enjoy our surroundings so freely. as for the rabbits i wil be back there soon for a sit and wait. the rabbits in the picture didn't go waste. the big one is in the fridge and the others are ferret food for a friend. Very few rabbits on my permissions, last year we had almost 800 over a few weeks shooting at night with the lamp & .22lr - then the mixey arrived!
