.243 dies

Recommended Posts

As I'm just getting into reloading I've been browsing about for which dies to get, I've had my eyes on the lee deluxe rifle dies, but the problem I'm having is finding any company that has them currently in stock, there all waiting on stock to come in, sportsman told me June, but being keen I want to get things moving and want to buy some, I've found the lee deluxe collet and dead length bullet seater as a pair but obviously its missing the full length sizer, my question is if I'm using brass fire formed to my rifle and only to be used in this rifle, is there any need to have a full length sizer? Or I would need to use a full length sizer after a few uses to resize my brass to factory sizes?

i don't FL size any of my own brass

die choice is open to snobbery

at the end of the day it is a tube with a chamber shape cut into it!

IMO collet neck sizing is the way forward to reduce brass working

double working of brass in a FL sizing die is a waste of brass

Some find that a full length size is needed after a few firings but how much brass do you have? You'll get a few loadings before that happens so assuming you have 100 cases that's 500 shots. Unless you're a very busy man it's going to be a while before you have to worry about it and the full length can be bought seperately for not a lot of money.

I like to full size after about five firings whether its needed or not. Have you tried Henry kranks, or opticswarehouse, if you are really stuck I have a spare full sizing die you could have on loan until your sorted. If Sportsman are getting the stock in June then I think everyone will have em as they will prob come by boat, can't you hang out till then.

That's a very nice offer from you but I've purchased the lee collet and lee rgb dies as they where in stock at henry krank, it worked out about 4 pounds more expensive and minus the shell holder the deluxe set comes with :(
