Cranfield
I use Browning gun oil in an aerosol can, for cleaning my Beretta and tend not to touch the woodwork much. If I have to clean something off the woodwork, I use a soft cloth and a very light touch of the Browning oil. The time you will wait for your SGC varies from county to county. Hopefully, it will not be too long.
dazza
I use Beretta gun oil in an aerosol can, and Beretta bore cleaner. My dad uses noting else but WD40.
Dead-Eyed Duck
Never put gun oil on your stock - it will probably seep into the wood and split the stock. Use boiled linseed very sparingly. Don

WD40 does the job well, spray it down the barrel then put a jag on the rod wrapped with 2 sheets of bog roll folded in half lengthways.not IZAL if you are old enough to remember it). Slide it up and down a couple or three times, remove bog roll and turn it round to leave the clean bit on the outside then repeat the spray and rod procedure until it comes out clean. I finish off with a light application of Youngs gun oil on a clean wool mop. DO NOT GET ANY MINERAL OIL ON THE WOODWORK. Use boiled linseed oil on woodwork, apply just a tiny amount in the palm of your hand and rub it in until it almost disappears.

In fact they used it in Spain for years after it was banned here When I wuz a youngster we used to be supplied with two sheets only. One to clean and one to polish Don
